Doha:
The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is stepping up vaccination awareness
as winter approaches, highlighting the importance of immunisation in preventing
infectious diseases and protecting public health. Its services include routine
and seasonal vaccinations, as well as immunisations for travellers and Hajj and
Umrah pilgrims.
PHCC
officials emphasised that vaccination is essential at every stage of life, from
childhood to old age. The national immunisation programme covers vaccines
against diseases including measles, polio, hepatitis B, influenza, COVID-19 and
pneumococcal disease. Parents are also encouraged to complete their children’s
vaccination schedules, with catch-up programmes available for missed doses.
The PHCC recommends annual seasonal influenza vaccination for everyone aged six months and older, particularly children, older adults, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses and healthcare workers. The flu vaccine is available free of charge at PHCC health centres across Qatar, helping reduce the risk of severe illness, complications and hospitalisation.
