Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has announced that a Qatari citizen was killed and an Arab resident injured in a maritime vessel incident after they were struck by shrapnel resulting from ongoing military operations in the region.
According
to the ministry, the vessel carrying the two individuals failed to return at
its scheduled time, prompting the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders
Security to launch an immediate search operation on Saturday evening. The
missing vessel was located by the Maritime Search and Rescue Team in the early
hours of Sunday.
The
MOI said the Qatari citizen succumbed to injuries caused by the shrapnel, while
the injured resident was taken to hospital for treatment and is reported to be
in stable condition.
The ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured resident a speedy recovery. It added that investigations into the incident are ongoing in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.
