Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has identified several copyright violations during intensive inspection campaigns carried out across various regions of the country. The inspections were conducted as part of the ministry's efforts to strengthen compliance with Qatar's intellectual property laws and ensure commercial establishments follow the relevant regulations.
The
campaigns uncovered violations involving the unauthorized public display and
transmission of audiovisual content without obtaining the necessary permissions
from the respective copyright holders, in breach of the country's copyright
protection legislation.
MoCI emphasized that respecting broadcasting rights and intellectual property is a shared responsibility. The ministry said protecting the rights of creators and content owners helps foster a fair commercial environment while encouraging creativity, innovation, and legal compliance across all sectors.
