Riyadh: Etihad Airways has cancelled flights
between Abu Dhabi and the Saudi cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam due to
"regional disruption," as Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi group continues
to carry out attacks on Saudi Arabia. All flights between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh
have been cancelled until October 19.
Qatar Airways has also temporarily suspended
flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam due to the "current situation."
The travel disruptions come amid repeated attacks on the kingdom, which have
forced the suspension of operations at its second-biggest airport.
The Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Vipul,
along with embassy officials, joined the funeral service of Mohammed Yousef
Ali, an Indian national killed in the October 10 Houthi strike on King Khalid
International Airport. The attack left 13 people dead and over 300 injured. The
embassy said three injured Indians remain in ICU, with others either in normal
wards or discharged.
The Saudi-led Coalition fighting the Houthis announced it had intercepted and destroyed two Houthi ballistic missiles launched towards Khamis Mushait. Meanwhile, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks on civilians and pilgrims, warning that targeting visitors to the Two Holy Mosques is among the gravest crimes.
