US
President Donald Trump has cancelled a
planned visit by American envoys to Pakistan for peace talks with Iran, according
to US media reports. The trip, involving Jared
Kushner and Steve Witkoff, was
called off amid growing uncertainty surrounding the regional situation.
Speaking
to Fox News, Trump confirmed the decision,
as reported by Reuters. The move comes at
a time when tensions remain high, particularly with repeated incidents at sea
and increasing concerns over the stability of the ongoing ceasefire.
Iran is said
to be pushing for a permanent ceasefire and a complete end to the conflict
before entering formal negotiations. At the same time, Tehran is sending mixed
signals — engaging in diplomatic outreach while also maintaining military
readiness in case of any escalation, reflecting fears that the fragile truce
could collapse at any moment.
