The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced on Saturday that Iran had targeted a tanker owned by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) with a missile while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE's foreign ministry issued a statement condemning "the hostile Iranian attack" and noted that the incident did not result in any casualties.
"This attack constitutes a flagrant violation of Security Council Resolution 2817, which ensures freedom of navigation and rejects targeting commercial vessels or disrupting international maritime routes," the statement on WAM read.
ADNOC had previously reported that since the onset of the conflict, 15 of its vessels had been attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, including three incidents occurring just this week.
