Washington: US President Donald Trump has said that action against the Cuban government could happen soon, as tensions between the two countries continue.

Speaking alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump referred to the situation in Cuba, pointing to the ongoing economic and power crisis. He said the United States is watching developments closely and may respond.

Rubio also criticised the current system in Cuba, saying the country’s economy is struggling and unlikely to improve under the present structure.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel reacted strongly to the remarks, calling them a threat and saying Cuba will not give in to pressure.

The latest statements come as Cuba continues to face serious challenges, including frequent power outages and economic difficulties, adding to the strain in US-Cuba relations.
