In a press conference on Friday, the World Health Organization's chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, urged Israel to prevent the "catastrophe" of starvation in Gaza. He revealed that at least 370 people have died from malnutrition since the conflict began.
Ghebreyesus emphasized, "This is a catastrophe that Israel could have prevented, and could stop at any time."
These remarks follow the UN's recent declaration of a famine in Gaza, attributing the crisis to Israel's "systematic obstruction" of humanitarian aid. However, Israel has denied responsibility for the famine.
The health ministry in Gaza reported that 373 individuals, including 134 children, have died from starvation and malnutrition since the outbreak of war in October 2023.
