Doha, Qatar: Morocco clinched the FIFA Arab Cup title with a thrilling 3–2 victory over Jordan after extra time in the final at Lusail Stadium on Thursday evening, completing a dramatic late turnaround to lift the prestigious trophy.
The
Atlas Lions took an early lead in the fourth minute through Oussama Tannane,
who unleashed a spectacular left-footed strike from long range to cap a swift
counter-attack. Jordan responded after the break, with Ali Olwan heading home
from a corner in the 48th minute to level the score.
Jordan
then surged ahead in the 68th minute when Olwan calmly converted a penalty,
completing his brace and shifting momentum in their favour. Morocco pressed
relentlessly for an equaliser and were rewarded late in the match as Abderrazak
Hamdallah struck in the 87th minute to force extra time.
Hamdallah
proved decisive again in the 100th minute, scoring from close range following a
set-piece to seal Morocco’s comeback and the Arab Cup crown. The victory capped
a resilient campaign for Morocco, while Jordan impressed with a strong
performance but ultimately fell short, as Moroccan fans celebrated a memorable
triumph in Doha.
