Chief Minister to speak at the ‘Pravasotsav’ to be held in Salalah this evening


Muscat: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is currently on a Gulf visit, addressed the Indian community in Oman during the Indian Community Festival held in Muscat. In his keynote speech, the Chief Minister underlined the state government’s continued commitment to the welfare of expatriates, highlighting the allocation of 739 crore towards the expatriate welfare pension and the introduction of an insurance scheme designed to support non-resident Keralites.


During his address, Vijayan spoke in detail about the various developmental and welfare programs implemented under the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala. He emphasized that the state’s progress is a result of consistent governance and long-term planning, noting that policies focused on inclusivity and social welfare have yielded tangible benefits for people across sectors, including the expatriate community.


The Chief Minister acknowledged the vital role of Malayali expatriates in shaping Kerala’s economy and reputation globally. He remarked that the state takes pride in its diaspora, who continue to contribute to Kerala’s growth while upholding its values abroad. Vijayan added that the government aims to further strengthen its connection with overseas Keralites through sustainable and welfare-driven initiatives.


Expressing optimism about Kerala’s future, the Chief Minister said that expatriates share a deep emotional bond with their home state and aspire to see it achieve similar progress to the countries where they reside. He urged the expatriate community to continue their support for the state’s development journey and extended a call for their backing in ensuring the continuity of the Left government’s policies and reforms.
