Doha, Qatar: On Thursday, Qatar revealed plans for a new Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) headquarters on Doha's waterfront. The announcement, made through Qatar News Agency (QNA) on X, included architectural renderings for the project.
The 1985 General Post Office, known for its distinctive modernist "pigeonholes" along the Doha Corniche, will be integrated into the new complex. The building will also serve as a space for public programming, highlighting the Ministry's role in cultural diplomacy.
Architect Frida Escobedo, founder of the Frida Escobedo Studio in Mexico City and New York, has been commissioned to design the 70,000 sq m complex, which will blend new construction with the adaptive reuse of the historic structure on the site.
