Qatar’s MCIT signs cooperation agreement with PwC Middle East and OpenAI to boost national AI ecosystem

Doha, Qatar: Qatar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has signed a cooperation agreement with PwC Middle East and the US-based AI research organization OpenAI. This partnership is a pivotal move towards establishing an integrated national AI ecosystem.

The collaboration aims to accelerate the development of advanced AI infrastructure, promote the adoption of AI across both public and private sectors, and ensure the use of innovative, reliable, and safe AI solutions to enhance operational efficiency and improve service quality.

The agreement focuses on three primary pillars: the creation of an AI testbed for government entities and startups, increasing productivity in public sector institutions with tools like ChatGPT, and designing innovative AI-driven projects in key national sectors. Additionally, the initiative aims to hasten Qatar's digital transformation by leveraging global consulting expertise and leading AI models.

The agreement was formalized by Eman Al Kuwari, MCIT's Director of Digital Innovation; Yazan Al Safi, Consulting Partner at PwC Middle East; and Farouk Hamzawi, Head of Enterprise for MENA at OpenAI.
