Shantiniketan Indian School commemorates 77th Republic Day with patriotism and sustainability

Doha, Qatar: January 26, 2026: Shantiniketan Indian School (SIS) marked India’s 77th Republic Day with a grand and meaningful celebration that blended patriotic spirit, cultural vibrancy, and environmental consciousness. Held on the school campus from 9 a.m., the programme brought together students, faculty members, management, and distinguished guests to honour the values and legacy of the Indian Constitution.


The ceremony began with an invocation, followed by a welcome address and a disciplined parade by the Student Scouts and Guides, who escorted the school leadership and dignitaries to the flag post. The National Flag was unfurled by Mr. Rasheed Ahmed T S, President of Shantiniketan Indian School, in the presence of Mr. Abdul Jaleel, President of CIC; Mr. K C Abdul Latheef, Managing Director; Mr. Rafeeq Rahim, Principal; Mr. Jothi Basu S, Country Head of L&T Construction, Qatar, along with his team including Mr. Abdul Hameed V N, Operations Manager; Mr. Sujith Kumar Hosdurga, Vice Principal; and Mr. Rafeeque Ahmed, Senior Headmaster. The unfurling was followed by the Indian National Anthem, creating a solemn and proud atmosphere across the campus.


A key highlight of the celebration was the integration of sustainability through the “Project Green Hands” initiative, conducted in collaboration with L&T Construction Company, featuring a ceremonial plantation drive. Addressing the gathering, the President and the Principal emphasized the importance of upholding constitutional values such as justice, liberty, equality, and civic responsibility. As a mark of appreciation, a memento was presented to Mr. Jothi Basu S, who lauded the school for nurturing academic excellence alongside social and environmental responsibility.

The cultural segment showcased students’ talents through speeches, patriotic dances, and thematic performances reflecting India’s democratic journey and freedom struggle. A special attraction was the “National Integration Stall Area,” featuring patriotic activities, interactive displays, and creative student initiatives that fostered unity and national pride. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and was seamlessly coordinated under the leadership of Ms. Payal Das, HOD of Social Science and Qatar History, with strong support from academic supervisors, coordinators, and various departments. The celebration stood as a testament to SIS’s commitment to value-based, sustainable education and holistic student development.
