Kollam
(Kerala): Two teenage sports trainees were found dead inside a room at the
Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel in Kollam on Thursday morning, police
officials said.
The
girls, aged 17 and 15, hailed from Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram
respectively. The incident came to light around 5 am when fellow hostel
residents noticed that the two trainees had not reported for their scheduled
morning training session.
According
to police, repeated knocks on the room door went unanswered, following which
hostel authorities forced the door open and found the girls inside. The younger
trainee, who was assigned a different room, had reportedly stayed with the elder
girl the previous night.
The 17-year-old was an athletics trainee studying in Class 12, while the 15-year-old was a kabaddi player and a Class 10 student. Police said no note was recovered from the room, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
