WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new 'Close Friends' update for its status feature that is similar to Instagram's. This will allow users to share updates exclusively with a chosen group of people. 

According to WABetaInfo, the latest beta version for iOS (version 25.23.10.80) is expected to be released to the public in the near future.

This feature is designed to enhance users' control and privacy regarding their content and will simplify the process of sharing personal content with a select audience.

Key Features:

• Users will have the option to share status updates with either their entire contact list or their curated Close Friends.
• Updates shared with Close Friends will be marked by a distinct colour ring, indicating exclusive content.
• Contacts will not be notified when added to or removed from the Close Friends list.
• Updates will still expire after 24 hours and remain protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring privacy and security.
