An Air India passenger flight bound for London crashed shortly after takeoff in India's Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Local media reports stated that the Air India plane carrying 242 passengers, crashed shortly after takeoff, with social media videos showing plumes of dark smoke in the sky.

“Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest,” Air India declared in a statement on ‘X’.

Fatalities and other details of the crash are still unknown.
