Doha: Students of Birla Public School brought
laurels to the school by securing first position at the ICC Quiz Competition
2026 - Celebrating the Life, Values & Vision of Mahatma Gandhi, organised
by the Indian Cultural Centre as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on
October 2, 2026.
The event was held at ICC Ashoka Hall under
the aegis of the Embassy of India, Qatar, and brought together students from
Indian schools across Qatar to commemorate the life, ideals, and vision of
Mahatma Gandhi. The competition witnessed participation from 15 Indian schools,
with 51 teams comprising 102 students competing across Preliminary, Audio,
Visual, Rapid Fire, Missing Link, and Clue Rounds, culminating in the Grand
Finale.
Representing Birla Public School, four teams
participated under the guidance of Mr. Rakesh Verma: Swarnali Biswas (10 B) and
Aarna Mishra (10 M); Drishti Jain (11 O) and Shanmugapriya Sivakumar (11 B);
Nihal Raval and Wendron Horwing Machado (Grade 12); and Alenta Mulakkalethu
Shibu (12 O) and Hafsa Velakadu Navas (12 O).
The first position was secured in a landslide victory by Nihal Raval and Wendron Horwing Machado of Grade 12, who displayed remarkable knowledge, quick thinking, confidence, and excellent teamwork throughout the rounds. The achievement reflects the students' strong general awareness, historical understanding, patriotism, and intellectual curiosity, and highlights the school's continued commitment to encouraging students to broaden their knowledge and participate confidently in inter-school academic competitions. The school leadership team congratulated the winners as well as the participating teams for their enthusiastic participation and commendable performance.
