Doha: Birla Public School (BPS) was crowned Overall Champion in the Schools Category at the Qatar Debate Open (British Parliamentary format) 2026–27, hosted by Qatar Debate at Georgetown University in Qatar on October 2–3. The two-day championship brought together 84 teams from Indian and international schools worldwide, with participants competing through four qualifying league rounds before the top performers advanced to the knockout stages.

BPS fielded three teams:
Team 1 (Ananya Roseleen Mathias, Grade XII, and Arnav Suhag, Grade X), Team 2
(Ryan Geo and Mohammed Zidane, both Grade X), and Team 3 (Ayaan Noushad and
Hiteshnath Suresh, both Grade X). All six debaters performed strongly through
the preliminary rounds, with the three teams finishing on 10, 8 and 6 points
respectively. Two BPS teams advanced through the quarterfinals and semifinals
to reach the Grand Final, where Team 1 ultimately claimed the Championship
title in the Schools Category.
Individual honours followed
for the school's debaters: Ananya Roseleen Mathias was named Best Speaker in
the League, while Arnav Suhag earned Third Best Speaker in the League and Best
Speaker in the Grand Final. The awards were presented at the closing ceremony
by Khalid Al Ali Rahim, Communication Coordinator at Qatar Foundation, and Dr.
