Clinton accuses Netanyahu of using Iran conflict to prolong political power

Former US President Bill Clinton has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of using the ongoing conflict with Iran as a means to remain in power indefinitely. Speaking on “The Daily Show,” Clinton stated, “Netanyahu has long wanted to fight Iran because that way he can stay in office forever and ever. I mean, he’s been there most of the last 20 years.” Clinton’s remarks come amid growing international concerns over escalating violence between Israel and Iran.

Clinton revealed that he had urged current US President Donald Trump to intervene diplomatically and work toward de-escalating the situation, emphasizing the need to end the “outright constant killing of civilians.” While acknowledging the strategic importance of protecting US allies in the Middle East, the former president warned against pursuing “undeclared wars” that primarily harm innocent civilians uninvolved in political conflict.

While the US has refrained from taking direct military action in the conflict, it has provided significant support to Israel, including helping intercept Iranian missile attacks and supplying military equipment. Clinton stressed the importance of restraint and diplomacy, cautioning that a full-scale regional war would be disastrous and should be avoided by all parties involved.
