Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, arrived in Istanbul today, as reported by Thansim News Agency, to participate in discussions with Arab League diplomats concerning the recent Israeli attacks on Iran. Approximately 40 diplomats are expected to attend the weekend gathering of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as tensions between Israel and Iran escalate with ongoing missile exchanges.
According to the news agency, the Foreign Minister arrived this morning for the OIC Foreign Ministers' meeting.
"At this meeting, at the suggestion of Iran, the issue of the Zionist regime's attack on our country will be specifically addressed,” said minister Araghchi, according to the news agency.
Following their discussions, the Arab League ministers are anticipated to issue a statement.
Israel initiated its offensive early on June 13, citing concerns that Iran was nearing the capability to develop nuclear weapons, which led to an immediate response from Tehran, marking a significant escalation in hostilities. Minister Araghchi expressed on Friday that Tehran remains open to considering diplomatic avenues, provided that Israel ceases its aggressive actions.
