Doha: The
Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by the Department of
Public Education E-Learning and Digital Solutions, has launched "Digital
Citizenship" curricula through the Qatar education system, targeting
fifth-grade primary and eighth-grade preparatory students to enhance digital
awareness and promote safe and responsible use of modern technologies.
The
curricula aim to develop students' digital skills and reinforce responsible
online behaviour through an interactive self-learning experience available
during the summer break, with the possibility of completing requirements at the
start of the 2026–2027 academic year. The initiative is based on awareness
resources developed in partnership with the National Cyber Security Agency and
the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The
curriculum covers cybersecurity and digital citizenship topics including
account protection, email security, safe internet browsing, digital privacy,
responsible use of technology and social media, cyberbullying risks, and
respect for intellectual property rights. The programme includes interactive content
such as awareness videos, infographics, activities, and short assessments.
Students will receive digital badges and a "Digital Citizen"
certificate upon successful completion.
The ministry noted that the launch aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy, supporting the building of a knowledge-based digital society. It called on families and schools to encourage students to benefit from the interactive content during the summer break.
