Cairo: The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has announced that it has recovered an archaeological golden mummy mask from Switzerland after it was exported illegally.

The ministry stated that the Egyptian embassy in Switzerland successfully brought back the mask in coordination with Swiss authorities. The move is part of cooperation between the two countries in several sectors, notably the protection of cultural items and combating the illicit trafficking of antiquities.

The ministry emphasised the two countries' commitment to strengthening coordination and exchanging expertise in this field, and preventing smuggling operations and illegal circulation of antiquities to safeguard cultural heritage from exploitation and illegal trafficking.
