The United States suffered significant military losses during its war with Iran, including dozens of aircraft and damage to hundreds of buildings and structures, according to a Pentagon inspector general report.

The report said at least 11 US military personnel were killed in action and 417 were wounded in Iranian attacks through June 30. It also highlighted shortages in US munitions and supply-chain bottlenecks.

Major US aircraft losses

• MQ-9 Reaper: Up to 30 armed surveillance drones were destroyed.
• F-15E: At least four fighter jets were lost, including three in friendly fire and one in combat.
• A-10: At least one ground-attack aircraft was shot down by Iranian fire.
• KC-135: At least seven aerial-refuelling tankers were damaged or destroyed.
• AH-64 Apache: At least one attack helicopter was shot down near the Strait of Hormuz.
• MQ-4C Triton: At least one high-altitude surveillance drone crashed in April.
• E-3 Sentry: At least one airborne early-warning aircraft was damaged in a strike in Saudi Arabia.
• F-35A: At least one stealth fighter was damaged by Iranian fire.
• HH-60W: At least one rescue helicopter was damaged during a combat mission.
• AH-6: Four light helicopters were destroyed after being deemed unrecoverable.
• MH-60S: One Navy helicopter crashed in the Arabian Sea, with one crew member missing.

Damage to US military bases

• Hundreds of structures: Iranian attacks damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at US military installations across Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan.
• Facilities disrupted: Several US facilities were temporarily shut down or had operations relocated following the attacks.
• Logistics challenges: The US faced difficulties securing naval bases and support ports, while shifting logistics to Diego Garcia created long 14–18-day sea transit cycles.

Damage to US diplomatic facilities

The Pentagon watchdog said Iranian attacks caused an estimated $184 million in damage to US diplomatic facilities in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

• Iraq: US diplomatic facilities suffered the most damage, with losses estimated at nearly $157 million.
• Kuwait: The US Embassy in Kuwait City suspended operations after attacks and damage, costing about $14.75 million.
• Saudi Arabia: Two Iranian drones struck the US Embassy in Riyadh, causing around $11.5 million in damage.
• UAE: The US Consulate General in Dubai suffered limited damage to a utility building, estimated at $120,000.

The report also estimated that US construction projects faced $24.5 million in monthly delays because of departures and travel restrictions in the region.
