Mumbai: Four members of a family, including a couple and their two teenage daughters, died following suspected food poisoning in the Pydhonie area, police said. The victims - a 40-year-old man, his 35-year-old wife, and their daughters aged 16 and 13 - reportedly fell ill after consuming food late at night.

According to police, the incident occurred on the night of April 25 after nine family members had dinner together. While relatives returned to their homes, the four later consumed watermelon between 1:00 AM and 1:30 AM. By early morning, all of them developed severe symptoms such as vomiting and loose motions and were initially treated by a family doctor before being shifted to JJ Hospital.

Despite medical efforts, the younger daughter died in the morning, followed by the husband later that night, while the mother and elder daughter also succumbed during treatment. Post-mortem examinations have been conducted, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after detailed reports. Police have registered an accidental death case and further investigation is underway.
