Indian Foreign Secretary summons Iranian Ambassador following Strait of Hormuz firing

New Delhi has formally expressed "deep concern" to the Iranian Ambassador after two Indian-flagged tankers, including a massive crude carrier, were fired upon by Iranian gunboats on Saturday. While no injuries occurred, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the vessels were forced to abandon their transit northeast of Oman.

The Foreign Secretary emphasized the priority India places on maritime safety and urged Tehran to immediately resume protocols ensuring secure passage for India-bound ships. The Iranian Ambassador committed to relaying these concerns to his government as regional "fog of war" continues to disrupt the vital energy corridor.
