Germany start World Cup with 7-1 win over Curaçao

Germany made a dominant start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, defeating Curaçao 7-1 in their Group E opener at NRG Stadium on Sunday. Kai Havertz scored twice, while Felix Nmecha, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, and Deniz Undav also found the net for the four-time champions.

Livano Comenencia scored Curaçao’s only goal, making history with the nation's first-ever goal in a World Cup finals match during their tournament debut. The emphatic victory puts Germany on top of Group E with three points, ahead of the group's other opening fixture between Côte d'Ivoire and Ecuador.
