Doha:
Several world leaders have praised Qatar for its significant diplomatic role in
helping facilitate the recent memorandum of understanding between the United
States and Iran, describing the agreement as a positive step toward regional
peace and stability.
Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin
Jassim Al-Thani welcomed the agreement and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to
supporting dialogue, peaceful negotiations, and efforts aimed at strengthening
security and stability at both regional and international levels.
Turkish
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commended Qatar’s support for diplomatic
initiatives and thanked the countries involved in mediation efforts. He
expressed hope that the agreement would contribute to lasting peace, security,
and confidence across the region.
British
Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also
acknowledged Qatar’s contribution, with Meloni describing the agreement as an
important opportunity for peace and thanking Qatar and other mediators for
making it possible.
Leaders
from Finland, Canada, Armenia, and the Netherlands likewise welcomed the
development. Qatar’s extensive diplomatic engagement throughout the crisis,
including consultations with regional and international leaders, has reinforced
its role as a key advocate for dialogue, de-escalation, and peaceful conflict
resolution.
