Hamas has approved a Gaza truce and hostage release deal, according to Palestinian sources close to the negotiations. Mediated by Qatar, the agreement aims to end the deadliest war in Gaza's history, with negotiators finalizing terms for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and top security officials reviewed the deal, which includes releasing 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for approximately 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

The initial phase of the agreement involves releasing hostages in batches, prioritizing women and children. Discussions for a second phase are set to begin on the 16th day of the truce. Mediators, including Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, have intensified efforts to resolve key sticking points, such as ceasefire permanence, Israeli troop withdrawal, and humanitarian aid for Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue operations in Gaza amid ongoing tensions. Israeli officials have rejected a full Gaza withdrawal and emphasized preventing Hamas from regaining control of the territory. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called for a unified Palestinian Authority to lead Gaza and the West Bank, stressing the importance of pursuing a two-state solution.
