On Sunday, Yemen's Houthi group claimed responsibility for an attack on a Saudi Aramco facility in Jazan, asserting that it was executed using a drone and resulted in a "precise strike." This assertion was made by Houthi military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree in a statement on Telegram, where he indicated that the group had successfully targeted the Aramco refinery in Jazan.
Saree explained that the attack was a response to what the Houthis described as Saudi drone incursions into the airspace over Yemen's Saada and Hajjah governorates. He stated, "This attack comes in response to the Saudi enemy's drone incursions into the airspace of Saada and Hajjah governorates."
This claim followed shortly after Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy reported that a fire had erupted at dawn in one of the Saudi Aramco refinery facilities in Jazan. The ministry confirmed that industrial security firefighting teams affiliated with Aramco had successfully extinguished the blaze, with no injuries reported. The Energy Ministry shared this information in a post on X, stating, "Industrial Security Firefighting Teams affiliated with Saudi Aramco extinguished a fire that broke out at dawn today, Sunday, corresponding to 26/2/1448 AH, in one of the facilities belonging to the Saudi Aramco Refinery in Jazan, with no injuries."
