Doha: The INCAS Qatar Central Committee organised a memorial gathering at the INCAS office in Thumama to mark the martyrdom anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The event was held to honour his memory through floral tributes and reflections on his contributions to India’s progress and development.
Speakers at the memorial meeting described Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary leader who laid a strong foundation for India’s modernisation and technological transformation. They highlighted his role in promoting computerisation, telecommunications and scientific innovation, noting that his forward-looking policies helped shape the country’s digital growth and technological advancement in later years.
The gathering also remembered Rajiv Gandhi’s strong belief in youth participation and democratic decentralisation. Speakers said his vision that the future of the nation rests with the younger generation continues to remain relevant, while his emphasis on empowering people through greater participation in governance contributed significantly to India’s development journey.
The function was presided over by INCAS Qatar President Sidheek Purayil, while ICBF President Shanavas Bawa delivered the memorial address recalling Rajiv Gandhi’s national vision and contributions to modern India. INCAS Advisory Committee Member Basheer Thuwarikkal, Vice Presidents Anwar Sadat and Ashraf Vadakara, Secretary Shamsuddin Ismail and Surjit also spoke on the occasion. General Secretary Manoj Koodal welcomed the gathering and Vice President Ashraf Nanmukku proposed the vote of thanks.
