Doha, Qatar: The highly anticipated Da'w Championship kicked off today as part of the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025), held under the esteemed patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani. Supported by the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM), the event will run until February 1, 2025, with today's competitions featuring the peregrine chicks category.
As the festival progresses, falconers will showcase their skills in various categories. On Friday, competitors will take to the skies with Gyr falcon and Harris's hawk categories, while Saturday will see the conclusion of contests in the Gyr falcon chick and peregrine chicks categories.
In addition to the Da'w Championship, the semifinal rounds of the A Talaa Championship are set to commence this morning, following the completion of the first-round qualifiers earlier this week. The recently concluded group stage matches, held from January 21 to 25, have led to the advancement of notable falconers including Hamdan Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Team Barzan, and Shaheen Salem Al Dosari, bringing the total number of shortlisted qualifiers in the A Talaa Championship to 28.
