Doha:
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) has launched the first
edition of the School Fees Policy 2026 for private schools and kindergartens.
The policy will come into effect from the 2027-2028 academic year and aims to
create a transparent and unified framework for regulating tuition, operating,
service, and optional fees.
The
new policy links future fee increases to financial, academic, and operational
criteria, ensuring fairness and transparency while balancing the financial
sustainability of private schools with the interests of parents and students.
MOEHE officials said the initiative is the first of its kind in Qatar and was
developed after studying international best practices.
Under
the policy, schools seeking fee increases must meet specific requirements,
including academic performance standards, operational costs, and enrollment
levels. Schools must be licensed for at least three years before applying for
tuition fee increases, and institutions that received an increase within the
previous three years cannot submit a new request.
The
ministry has also introduced a cap on fee increases and granted parents up to
18 months' notice before any approved increase takes effect. Any approved
increase exceeding 5 percent must be spread over two consecutive academic years
to reduce the financial burden on families.
