MOI reminds public to report accident through Metrash, not social media

Doha: The Ministry of Interior has reminded the public to use the Metrash app and official channels to report traffic accidents, warning that sharing accident photos or videos on social media can result in legal penalties.

Awareness Officer Captain Khaled Hussain Al Shammari said motorists are allowed to record accident scenes solely for the purpose of reporting them to authorities. Reports submitted through Metrash can include the vehicle's plate number and up to four photos of the accident scene, provided passengers and individuals involved are not photographed. Publishing accident photos or videos on social media is prohibited and may attract a fine of up to QR10,000.

Captain Al Shammari also noted that Community Police hotline services are available in multiple languages, with trained personnel able to assist callers from different nationalities, and missed calls are followed up through a callback system.

Major Khamis Al Merekhi of the Human Rights Department said the department operates under the vision of "Solid Justice, Permanent Security," focusing on legitimacy, respect for human dignity, credibility, objectivity, and non-discrimination through legal, social, humanitarian, and awareness initiatives.
