Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has released a circular reminding all healthcare facilities and practitioners to report suspected or confirmed cases of foodborne diseases within 24 hours of identification.
The ministry highlights the importance of timely reporting through its electronic system, SAVES, to facilitate prompt preventive and response measures. This step aims to contain disease spread, control potential outbreaks, and ensure public health safety.
Healthcare providers must submit complete epidemiological and clinical information via the SAVES platform and cooperate with surveillance and rapid response teams during investigations. The ministry also advised facilities to review the attached guidance document and share it with relevant staff.
In the circular issued on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the ministry stressed compliance with communicable disease reporting requirements per existing legislation in Qatar. It warned that failure to comply could lead to legal action. The reporting mandate is grounded in Decree-Law No. (17) of 1990 and its amendments, including Law No. (8) of 1990 on Human Food Control regulations.
