Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has launched a new electronic permit system that allows travellers arriving in or departing from Qatar to apply online for prior approval to carry controlled medicines for personal use. The system also enables applicants to track the status of their requests and receive permits electronically.
The new platform is designed to simplify procedures, improve the user experience, and strengthen pharmaceutical oversight while ensuring the safe and responsible use of controlled medicines. The Ministry has also released a user guide explaining the application process, required documents, and the list of controlled medicines.
According to the Ministry, applications are approved or rejected within three working days after all required documents have been submitted. Travellers are advised to apply at least five working days before their planned travel date to avoid delays.
To obtain the permit, users must log in through Qatar's National Authentication System, complete the online application, and upload the required documents, including a valid prescription. Applications are reviewed by the Department of Pharmacy and Drug Control before permits are issued in accordance with the approved regulations.
The launch of the electronic system is part of the Ministry's ongoing digital transformation efforts to enhance public services and support the National Health Strategy. The service is available through the Ministry of Public Health's website and the dedicated electronic portal for controlled medicines.
