Doha, October 19: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Monday inaugurated the eighth edition of the Global Security Forum 2026 in Doha, held under the theme “Future of Alliances”. The three-day forum brings together senior officials and prominent figures from more than 100 countries to discuss the future of alliances and collective security.

This
year’s forum takes place at a critical juncture for international security, as
established alliances and international institutions face mounting pressure
from geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts and shifting global
partnerships.
The
forum provides a platform for senior decision-makers to exchange views, assess
emerging security challenges and explore practical ways to strengthen
international cooperation.
Discussions
will also focus on the challenges facing international institutions, the
growing influence of emerging powers and non-state actors, and the future of
multilateral cooperation and collective security. The role of diplomacy,
dialogue and mediation in strengthening regional and global security will also
be highlighted.
The
inauguration was attended by HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al
Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, and HE
Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Interior and
Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), along with a number of
ministers and senior officials.
