Doha, Qatar: To enhance passenger convenience, Qatar Airways, in collaboration with Hamad International Airport (HIA), has introduced the "Fast Pass," a facial recognition-based service aimed at streamlining passenger movement through selected airport touchpoints.
This innovative biometric system allows eligible travelers to navigate parts of the airport using facial recognition instead of physical documents, minimizing the need for repeated boarding pass checks while ensuring robust security and data protection standards.
Hamad International Airport stated that the Fast Pass enables passengers to create a biometric profile during check-in. Once registered, travelers can use facial recognition at self-service bag drop counters, automated security gates, and boarding gates. The service is available to Qatar Airways passengers with eligible flights, provided they have a valid passport, their journey begins in Doha, and they are 18 years or older.
HIA also noted that the service is currently not available for passengers with disabilities, although plans to include this feature are underway.
