Doha:
Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani performed the Istisqa
(rain-seeking) prayer in Lusail on Thursday, seeking Allah's mercy and
rainfall. The special Islamic prayer is performed during periods of drought or
prolonged dry weather, following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Following the sermon, the Amir turned his bisht inside out, observing a Prophetic tradition associated with the prayer. The gesture symbolises hope for a change in conditions and the arrival of rain.
