Doha: The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has announced a set of updates to the fifth series of Qatar's 5, 10 and 50 riyal banknotes, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the State of Qatar.
According
to a statement issued by QCB on its official X platform, the changes include
updates to the official state emblem,
Arabic numerals, and the issue date printed on the banknotes.
The modifications are part of an ongoing process to align the country's
currency with current official standards and national symbols.
The
central bank clarified that the previously issued fifth-series 5, 10 and 50
riyal banknotes will remain legal
tender and continue to circulate normally alongside the updated
versions. Holders of the existing banknotes do not need to exchange them, as
they will retain their full value and validity.
QCB
further noted that similar changes will be introduced to other currency denominations
at a later stage, with details to be announced in due course.
The
announcement comes as part of the central bank's efforts to maintain the
integrity, accuracy and consistency of Qatar's national currency while ensuring
a smooth transition without any disruption to the public or financial
institutions.
