Qatar Museums to showcase 'Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion' exhibition from 3 September to 28 November 2026

Qatar Museums (QM) is set to unveil "Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion," a groundbreaking exhibition organized by the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in collaboration with Uzbekistan's Art and Culture Development Foundation (ACDF).

The exhibition will be on display at MIA's Sheikh Saoud Al Thani Temporary Exhibitions Gallery from September 3 to November 28, 2026.

Drawing on over 1,000 years of Uzbekistan's artistic and cultural history, the exhibition features 146 objects, including a monumental painting, Timurid architectural fragments, scientific manuscripts, ceramics, jewelry, and textiles. These items are sourced from the collections of MIA, the National Collection of Qatar, Lusail Museum, Qatar National Library, and 13 institutions across Uzbekistan, ranging from the Afrasiab Museum in Samarkand to the Margilan Crafts Development Center.

Curated by Uzbekistan-born MIA curator Anastasiya Silkatcheva, the exhibition explores how Uzbekistan's Islamic-era traditions continue to influence contemporary art, architecture, and craft. This initiative underscores Qatar Museums' dedication to fostering cross-cultural dialogue and celebrating a shared heritage narrative.
