Radhika Yadav murder: Victim's uncle reveals mother was present during shooting; Music video angle under probe

Gurugram: The investigation into the shocking murder of 25-year-old national tennis player Radhika Yadav has taken a new turn as her uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, revealed in the FIR that Radhika’s mother, Manju Yadav, was present on the same floor when the fatal shooting occurred. Radhika was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, inside their residence in the upscale Sushant Lok area on Thursday morning.

According to Kuldeep Yadav, the tragic incident happened around 10:30 am when he heard a loud gunshot and rushed to the first floor, where he found Radhika lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen. The revolver used in the crime was found in the drawing room. Along with his son, Piyush Yadav, they rushed Radhika to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Deepak Yadav, who has confessed to the murder, has been remanded to one-day police custody.

Police sources have hinted that family tensions may have escalated in recent months, possibly triggered by Radhika's growing public presence. A music video featuring Radhika with an independent artist, released last year, may have added to the strain, and investigators are now exploring this angle. Additionally, there were reported disputes over the tennis academy run by Radhika, which the father allegedly wanted her to shut down.

Radhika, a talented former tennis player ranked 1999 by the International Tennis Federation, had participated in international qualifying tournaments in Indore and Kuala Lumpur earlier this year. Her uncle expressed shock and disbelief over the murder, recalling her many achievements and saying the motive remains deeply disturbing. Police are currently verifying the number of bullets fired and recovering ammunition from Deepak’s licensed .32 bore revolver as forensic analysis continues
