Ship crossings via the Strait of Hormuz remained low on Monday, August 17, 2026, although they rose slightly from the weekend, according to preliminary shipping data released on Tuesday, August 18.
This comes amid an ongoing stalemate in U.S. and Iranian peace talks. Six commodity ships transited the strait on Monday, evenly split between those entering and exiting the Gulf, as reported by Kpler shiptracking data.
This figure falls below the 10-day average of 11 ships. Over the weekend, three ships passed through the strait on Saturday, while only two moved through on Sunday.
