Riyadh: After completing his tenure as India’s Ambassador to Qatar, senior diplomat Vipul has assumed charge as India’s Ambassador-designate to Saudi Arabia, marking a new chapter in his diplomatic career. The Embassy of India in Riyadh announced on Wednesday, August 12, that he had assumed charge and wished him a successful tenure.

Vipul, a 1998-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, was appointed India’s next Ambassador to Saudi Arabia by the Ministry of External Affairs on June 2. He received his credentials from President Droupadi Murmu on July 31 ahead of taking up his new assignment in Riyadh.

Vipul completed his three-year tenure as India’s Ambassador to Qatar in July. During his posting in Doha, India-Qatar relations witnessed further engagement in areas including trade, investment, energy and people-to-people ties. He also maintained close interaction with the Indian community in Qatar.

Indian community organisations in Saudi Arabia have welcomed Vipul’s appointment and congratulated him on assuming charge. His new assignment comes amid growing India-Saudi Arabia cooperation, with both countries continuing to strengthen strategic, economic and people-to-people relations.
