At least four crew members were killed after a deck cargo ship was attacked by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, according to sources from the Yemeni coast guard and military officials in the government.
The Houthis have not claimed responsibility for the attack, which Yemen's internationally recognized government's transportation ministry reported resulted in the deaths of three Pakistani nationals and an Indonesian, as per the Associated Press.
The ministry stated that three ballistic missiles were fired at the Yemeni commercial vessel by the Houthis. A subsequent missile targeted rescue teams, injuring a Yemeni rescuer. This attack on the Tanzania-flagged Tihamah marks the first Houthi strike since the West Asia conflict erupted following US-Israeli actions against Iran in late February.
