Trump says CNN, MS NOW and Politico will be banned from White House

Washington: US President Donald Trump said Friday that he would ban CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, accusing the three outlets of publishing what he called “fake news” and false reports about his administration.

Trump said the decision was based on what he described as a cumulative pattern of coverage rather than any specific incident. He also suggested that other media organisations, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, could face similar action.

Representatives of the three outlets were still working at the White House on Friday, while the administration was expected to bar them from the grounds starting Saturday. The scope and legality of the proposed ban remained unclear, with constitutional experts warning that broader restrictions on press access could face challenges under the First Amendment.

CNN said it stood behind its journalists and described any ban as an attack on constitutionally protected press freedoms. Politico said it would continue reporting on the White House and defend its First Amendment rights, while MS NOW declined to comment.
