New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condemned Iran’s attack on the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone in the UAE, which left three Indian nationals injured, calling the targeting of civilians and infrastructure “unacceptable.”
“India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy,” Modi posted on X. He added that ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for regional peace, stability, and global energy security.
The Emirati Defence Ministry said its air defences had engaged 15 missiles and four drones fired by Iran. Authorities in Fujairah said one drone sparked a fire at its largest oil facility, wounding three Indian nationals working there. Iran did not outright confirm or deny the attacks, with an anonymous military official quoted as saying Tehran had “no plan” to target the UAE.
A fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States is now seen as teetering, as the two countries trade fire over the strategic Strait of Hormuz after President Trump announced an operation to escort trapped vessels through the waterway.
