Delhi: India has successfully tested its emergency alert system by sending
nationwide dummy messages to mobile phones. Using cell broadcast technology to
bypass network congestion, the system delivered flash notifications accompanied
by loud beeps and vibrations.
The trial, led by the Department of Telecommunications, aims to verify the reliability of a national disaster warning network for real-world emergencies like floods and earthquakes. While the messages were labelled as samples requiring no action, the exercise allowed authorities to assess system efficiency across various regions and devices.
