Recent reports indicate that a US official announced Iran and the United States have agreed to cease recent hostilities in the Gulf and to renew discussions regarding their ongoing dispute over the Strait of Hormuz.

The official indicated that "Technical talks are slated to continue on all areas of the MOU. Both sides will stand down for now and vessels can move freely." Both parties will temporarily refrain from hostile actions, allowing vessels to navigate the strait freely.

According to Axios, which was the first to report on the cessation of hostilities, citing a senior US official, said the discussions are scheduled to resume on Tuesday in Qatar.
