Doha, Qatar: The General Tax Authority (GTA) has announced the extension of the 100 percent Financial Penalty Exemption Initiative until December 31, 2025, in response to the strong interest shown by taxpayers. The move comes as part of the GTA’s commitment to supporting businesses and individuals in regularizing their tax status while enhancing compliance across the country.
The
initiative, available through the Dhareeba platform, enables taxpayers to
benefit from full exemptions on financial penalties related to late
registration, filing, or payment, under specific conditions. By extending the
deadline, the GTA aims to allow the maximum number of taxpayers to take
advantage of the program and settle their obligations conveniently.
Since
its launch, the initiative has achieved remarkable results, with more than
7,000 taxpayers exempted from penalties exceeding QR 1.6 billion. Additionally,
over 56,000 tax returns have been submitted, including overdue filings dating
back to 2014. The scheme has encouraged businesses across multiple sectors to
rectify their tax situations, highlighting its broad impact on the national
economy.
The GTA emphasized that the initiative has strengthened voluntary compliance and fostered greater trust between the Authority and taxpayers. It urged all eligible entities to apply through the Dhareeba platform and benefit from this landmark measure, which continues to play a key role in building a transparent, efficient, and supportive tax system in Qatar.
