Qatar Museums and QCH to organise special public event to witness total lunar eclipse

Doha, Qatar: Qatar Museums, in collaboration with the Qatar Calendar House, is organizing a special event on Sunday, September 7, 2025, to observe the rare total lunar eclipse. The event will be held from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park and is free for all attendees.

Bashir Marzouk, an astronomy expert at Qatar Calendar House, mentioned that residents of Qatar will witness all phases of the eclipse.

The partial phase begins at 7:27 PM, with the total eclipse starting at 8:31 PM and peaking at 9:12 PM Doha time. The total phase will end at 9:53 PM, with the final partial stage concluding around 10:56 PM.

The entire eclipse will last approximately three hours and 29 minutes.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon is completely obscured by the Earth's shadow, resulting in a dramatic reddish hue known as a "Blood Moon."
